An absorbent article was issued a patent. The article includes a multi-layer material made up of a topsheet, a backsheet and an absorbent layer between the two. The article also has many elongated resilient fluid-filled chambers abutting each other. The fluid filled chambers are located between at least a portion of the absorbent layer and the backsheet. The patent also includes a means for inflating the resilient fluid-filled chambers.
