Absorptive Article Having Wing Members And Process For Manufacturing The Same

January 28, 2003

A process for manufacturing an absorptive article has been patented. The article includes a body with a liquid-permeable topsheet and a backsheet surrounding an absorbent layer and separate wing members attached on two side portions of the body and extending outwards in a widthwise direction from the body. The process involves jointing wing member materials to two sides of a backsheet; placing an absorbent layer on the backsheet before or after; sandwiching the absorbent layer between the topsheet and the backsheet by feeding the topsheet over the absorbent layer; jointing the topsheet and the backsheet on the outer side of the absorbent layer and cutting off unnecessary portions of the backsheet. The topsheet and the wing member materials form an absorptive article where the body and the wing members are jointed.
