Absorbent Article

January 21, 2003

Patented is an absorbent article. The article contains a main body with a support sheet containing a liquid-absorbent layer surrounded by a liquid-permeable sheet. Leakage-preventing sidewalls extend in a longitudinal direction from the main body and lie opposite one another in a latitudinal direction. Each side wall has a raised portion, which is joined at a root end onto the liquid-receiving side surface of the main body and is raised to have a free end positioned apart from the liquid-receiving side surface. Each side wall is provided with a first elastically shrinking means for applying an elastic shrinking force along a curved shrinking action line that approaches the free end from the root end when extending from two longitudinal end positions of the side wall’s raised portion toward a longitudinally midway position.
