Disposable Absorbent Article With Waist Barrier Including Skin-Friendly Adhesive

December 10, 2002

A disposable absorbent article that traps and collects loose or liquid waste has been patented. The article comprises an absorbent chassis, a first barrier panel and an exposable skin-friendly adhesive. The chassis has a front and back waist portion and a crotch portion. The chassis is configured to be worn between the legs with the inner surface directed toward the wearer’s skin. The first barrier panel is mounted on the chassis’ inner surface and the exposable, skin-friendly adhesive is located on the barrier panel and is arranged to be selectively exposed, if desired, to enable it to engage the wearer’s skin. The barrier panel and the skin-friendly adhesive form a liquid-resistant seal with the skin to impede the egress of the loose or liquid waste from the rear waist portion.
