Unicharm Corporation's subsidiary in Indonesia, PT Uni-Charm Indonesia Tbk (UCI), has launched a limited-time product using bio material, Charm Daun Sirih + Herbal Bio from its sanitary napkin brand Charm in Indonesia on World Environment Day. The surface sheet that touches the skin is made from bio material such as previously disposed pressed sugarcane, limestone, botanical oil, and natural resins, in an effort to further reduce the use of petroleum-based materials. In addition, materials containing bio material were also used for the backsheet of the sanitary napkin, individual packaging, and outer packaging.
In other news, Toray Industries, Inc., announced that its wholly owned Korean subsidiary Toray Advanced Materials Korea Inc. has obtained ISCC PLUS certification for the polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) resin produced at its Gunsan, Korea plant. The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is an independent multi-stakeholder initiative and leading certification system supporting sustainable, fully traceable, deforestation-free and climate-friendly supply chains.
