Teknomelt Teknik Mensucat San. ve Tic. A.S., based in Turkey, has ordered a complete neXline wetlace line from Andritz to produce nonwoven roll goods for biodegradable, plastic-free wet wipes. The line will be installed in Teknomelt's Kahramanmaras, Turkey site with a start-up scheduled for late 2023.
The state-of-the-art neXline wetlace CCP (carded-carded-pulp) line combines the benefits of two technologies: spunlace and wetlaid. This enables the use of bio-based fibers, like viscose and wood pulp, to create a high-performance and sustainable wipe with the same technical product characteristics and performances as a conventional wipe made of synthetic fibers while protecting the environment.
In other news, Colombian wipes converting company Quimicolor has invested in a complete Andritz neXline spunlace line for nonwovens production to its Medellín plant. The start-up is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023. This will be the first spunlace line in South America outside of Brazil, and it will include the 130th TT card sold by Andritz. The line will process viscose and polyester fibers to produce over 10,000 tons of nonwoven roll-goods per year for conversion to wipes.
