Suzano has acquired Kimberly-Clark's Brazilian tissue business including a factory located in Mogi das Cruzes and the Neve tissue brand.
"The operation is aligned with one of Suzano's strategic avenues, which consists of advancing the links of our chain. The complementarity of product categories and geography will allow us to further improve the service provided to different customers and offer a more complete portfolio to consumers throughout Brazil," says executive director of Consumer Goods and Corporate Relations of Suzano, Luís Bueno.
The operation includes installed capacity of 130,000 tons of tissue per year. The transaction is subject to compliance with previous conditions, such as approval by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) and will not impact Suzano's financial health or level of indebtedness. The union of Kimberly-Clark's tissue business in Brazil with Suzano's consumer goods operation complements product categories and geographies. Suzano operates mainly in the markets of toilet paper, paper towels and napkins. Kimberly-Clark's product line features toilet paper, napkins, wet wipes, paper wipes and dry wipes. The lines of children's and adult diapers and female care goods were not included in the negotiation.
Suzano has a solid presence in the North and Northeast regions, while Kimberly-Clark operates mainly in the Southeast region. The national toilet paper market has the participation of more than 50 players, including national and international companies.
Suzano entered the consumer goods market in 2017, when it completed the construction of two tissue plants, in Mucuri (BA) and Imperatriz (MA). In the same year, its announced the purchase of Facepa, a company that operated units in Belém (PA) and Maracanaú (CE). Suzano's most recent investment in this sector occurred in 2021, when the company completed the construction of a factory in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim (ES).
