The founders of Callaly, the women’s health company and inventor of the Tampliner, have founded a British medical device startup. Calla Lily Clinical Care has developed a leak-free, convenient and dosage-confident delivery platform for vaginally delivered drugs. The company is initially focused on delivering progesterone for miscarriage prevention and IVF, where there is an unmet need for a patient-friendlier means of drug administration.
Since new U.K. medical guidance began recommending vaginal progesterone to reduce miscarriages in late 2021, prescriptions of the drug has increased significantly.
The Calla Lily patented leak-free design allows for a cleaner, more comfortable delivery of medicines and hormones while preventing drug. The design features a flexible sheath, a progesterone pessary and a scaffold which is inserted into the vagina as well as an absorbent mini-liner to prevent leakage.
