Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s net sales in the third quarter of 2018 amounted to €565.6 million ($644 million), showing an increase of 4.4% from the €541.6 million ($616.7 million) in the third quarter of 2017. At constant currency rates, growth was 7.8%, driven by significantly higher selling prices in all business areas, and particularly in the Industrial Solutions business area. Delivery volumes in the Filtration and Performance business area remained at the same level as in the comparison period. Volumes decreased in the Decor, Industrial Solutions and Specialties business areas.
“In the third quarter, most of our businesses performed well,” says Hans Sohlström, president and CEO. “I’m pleased that our gross margin for products improved for the second consecutive quarter and exceeded last year’s level.”
He adds: “Our investment projects to achieve higher customer value and profitable growth are proceeding well. By completing the investment in Madisonville, U.S., we are continuing to grow our attractive Filtration business. This investment strengthens our technical capabilities in the region for filtration material applications, supporting our customer’s with sustainable solutions, and increasing our capacity.”
