VIAM Manufacturing’s Manchester, TN, facility will add 75 new jobs and expand by 37,000 square feet, officials have announced.
In addition to the added square footage, the $9,065,000 project will add machinery and equipment to building No. 3 located on Park Tower Drive in the Interstate Industrial Park. Building No. 3 is one of four VIAM buildings, plus a fifth, VICAM, located in the park. The expansion is expected to be completed by August 2013.
“VIAM’s growth can be attributed to our customers’ confidence in our ability to deliver a high quality product,” says Keith Hayes, VIAM COO. “Our associates have demonstrated time and again their commitment to the success of VIAM. We would like to thank our parent company (Japan Vilene Co.) for the confidence they have placed in us, the local representatives of Coffee County and Manchester for their support through the years and last, but certainly not least, the State of Tennessee and the Economic and Community Development for all their support.”
VIAM Manufacturing, Inc., a subsidiary of Japan Vilene, Tokyo, selected the Coffee County Interstate Industrial Park in 1998 and leased a 95,000-square-foot facility located on 10 acres. The initial operation opened in 1999. VIAM’s growth has included a 58,000 square-foot addition to its initial plant, the purchase of an additional 10 acres and construction of an 85,000 square-foot building which includes their corporate headquarters. This latest expansion will bring VIAM’s total square-footage to 507,000 square-feet and their employment to 487 employees.
VIAM manufactures floor mats, truck liners, and other nonwoven fabric auto accessories for domestic and overseas customers such as Toyota, Nissan, Honda, General Motors, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Ford and others.
VICAM, another Japan Vilene subsidiary housed in the complex, produces fiber by a process of recycling PET plastics. The fiber is used in the fabrication of headliner material for automobiles.
