Diaper maker DSG International has outlined plans to build a new plant in Malaysia. The investment would include a two-story office, warehouse and manufacturing plant. Construction will begin in about 10 months. According to the company, the investment will include the land purchase price, the construction of the new buildings and the cost of the new machinery. DSG purchased the land in March.
Executives report that the new facility will help it reach future sales demand. Additionally, the facilities will allow DSG to consolidate manufacturing and warehousing facilities in a single location.
Based in Hong Kong with a subsidiary in Thailand, DSG sells diapers under the Fitte, Pet Pet, Baby Love, Baby Joy, Dispo123, HandyTM and Certainty ibrands in the Americas, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. In 2010, global diaper sales were reported at about $100 million.
