RKW opens Cairo plant

Film site located strategically near P&G diaper plant.

The RKW Group has started production at its first plant in Egypt, a totally new manufacturing facility in Cairo which was built in less than 16 months. The site, located near Procter & Gamble’s new Egyptian diaper plant, represents a more than $30 million investment and includes a manufacturing building, warehouse and administrative offices on 20,000 square meters of land.

The maker of Pampers and Luvs diapers, P&G has strategically partnered with RKW to purchase films and nonwoven products for diaper manufacturing and has awarded RKW a "Supplier of Excellence Award" over three consecutive years. RKW’s investment in Egypt localizes material supply for Procter & Gamble which in turn reduces the carbon footprint of diaper materials, develops the local Egyptian economy improving everyday life for Egyptians and ensures consumers have the their brand of choice via a more responsive and environmentally friendly supply chain.

The plant will initially employ about 40 people. As part of the first stage, the manufacturing facility includes a state-of-the-art embossing calender and an extrusion line. German specialists are currently training local workers and preparing the start of series production.
