Aptra Elements, from RKW US, Inc. was announced the winner of the inaugural RISE durable products award today at INDA’s RISE conference in Raleigh, NC. The award was established by INDA to recognize a durable product using nonwoven fabric or technology in the consumer or industrial marketplace. Aptra Elements was selected from a pool of five finalists by conference attendees.
“Thankts for the support and for recognizing the amount of work we put into this,” said Morris Collins, president of RKW US in accepting the award. “Hopefully you can help propel it forward and make it a success.”
Aptra Elements is a metallic, highly reflective, breathable, air barrier membrane made of waterproof, UV-stabilized polypropylene and nonwoven. The material maintains strength and flexibility without metal surface rub-off or oxidation and can be used for multiple uses within the building, architecture, construction, marine, tent and upholstery industries.
Other award finalists included: UltraTouch denim insulation from Bonded Logic, Soft Binding Sole from Intermedius, Grippy Mat from New Pig Corporation and Norafin Komanda protective apparel products from Norafin Americas Inc.

Also at RISE, Mike Putnam, who was instrumental in developing continuous filament APEX technology at Chicopee/PGI, received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and RKW US’s Collins received the INDA Lifetime Service Award. Both were inducted into INDA’s Nonwovens Industry Hall of Fame.
