At INDEX, Avgol announced it would add a third line in China in addition to its previously announced plan to added a fourth line in Mocksville, NC. Both lines should be up and running in 2012—the North Carolina line in April and the Chinese line in July, according to vice president of global accounts, Gary Holt.
"Our business continues to expand in North America,” Mr. Holt said. “Growth is higher in China. It's growing in North Carolina. We've been cautiously investing how we grow in North America without flooding the market with too much capacity too soon. We have pent-up demand in North America and we are now able to react to this with this new capacity. We're continuing to grow our supply of very lightweight materials to hygiene customers so they are cost effective and of higher performance, especially in these days of higher resin costs.”
Avgol announced earlier this year it would add two news lines, one in North America and another at an undisclosed location but industry observers speculated that China would be chosen because of the country’s high growth prospects.
