IDEA2010, the year's largest nonwovens trade exposition, opened its doors today at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, FL with a special ribbon cutting ceremony led by Rory Holmes, president of INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry.
The special ceremony was attended by a number of nonwovens industry executives including representatives of all the major regional trade associations.
"The next three days are going to be a historic time for the nonwovens and technical textiles industry,"said Mr. Holmes joking that the show has continued despite an Icelandic volcano and strong storms across the Eastern U.S. that made travel for the thousands of IDEAattendees difficult.
The final tally of exhibitors for this year's show stands at 376, according to Mr. Holmes who also said he expects to see some 6000 visitors walk through the doors of IDEA2010. Of these, some 1100 are first-time visitors to the show.
IDEA, North America's version of a triumverate of global nonwovens exhibitions, has been held in Miami Beach every three years since it first came to this location in 2001. Plans are already underway for it to return there in 2013.
