Unicharm’s Indonesian subsidiary has been improving its performance rapidly as demand for disposable goods has increased. Demand for feminine hygiene items and baby diapers has been driven by increased income levels among people in the ASEAN countries. Unicharm started selling items in this region in 1998 and expanded into adult incontinence last year. Between 2008 and 2009, the subsidiary is expecting to increase sales from ¥8.5 billion to ¥12 billion.
