Avgol, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of nonwoven fabrics, has recently announced that it will build a second polypropylene (PP) nonwoven fabrics manufacturing unit in Jingmen in Hubei Province. The facility is jointly owned by Avgol and China’s Hubei Gold Dragon Nonwoven Fabric Co. Ltd. The new line is reportedly based on Refenhauser technology.
Avgol is providing the new production line, with a reported 15,000-ton capacity, for its Chinese joint venture with Hubei Gold Dragon Nonwoven Fabric Co Ltd, which is a producer of SMS composite nonwoven fabrics at the Jingmen site. The line is expected to begin running in early 2010.
According to reports, Avgol will also increase its stake in the Chinese joint venture from 50% to 70%.
Meanwhile in the U.S., Avgol will upgrade two of its three spunmelt lines located in Mocksville, NC to increase annual capacity by 3500 tons and help diversify its product range.
