Behnam Pourdeyhimi, The Nonwovens Institute director and NCSU professor, has received the TAPPI Nonwovens Division 2008 Technical Award and Mark Hollingsworth Prize in the amount of $1000. This award recognizes outstanding accomplishments that have advanced the industry's technology in the field of nonwovens.
Dr. Pourdeyhimi is a Klopman distinguished professor of textile materials, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering, associate dean for industry research and extension at the college of textiles and director of the Nonwovens Institute and the Nonwovens Cooperative Research Center at NCSU. He received his Ph.D. from Leeds University in 1982 and has held research positions at NCSU and Cornell University. His contributions to fiber/textile science, engineering and technology and his contributions to the profession have been well recognized. He has published several books and monographs, more than 150 journal articles and over 150 conference presentations.
