Freudenberg Nonwovens North America has launched a post consumer recycle (PCR) product range within its spunlaid nonwoven polyester product portfolio. These PCR products are now available in a variety of weights and widths for all market segments (automotive, building and industrial segments) and have similar product properties as Freudenberg's other high-quality Lutradur products.
“Over the past months, we have made substantial investments in product development and industrial trials to achieve this exciting product launch. This PCR product range combined with our existing post industrial products (PIR content) offers great alternatives to our global customer base who are looking for ‘green’ and sustainable products to include in their product and systems offering,” said Stephan Liozu, vice president and general manager Spunlaid Division NA.
Freudenberg's post consumer recycle polyester nonwoven products are manufactured using PCR chips made out of recycled polyester bottles that are being collected and reclaimed every day throughout the U.S. “Every square yard of our 85 gram Lutradur PCR nonwoven fabric contains one PET bottle that is not being sent to landfill,” said Mr. Liozu.
