Fiberweb sold its Natural Fibers business, located in Griswoldville, MA, to Barnhardt Manufacturing Company, based in Charlotte, NC. The Natural Fibers business bleaches cotton fibers as a raw material for other processes.
“Although this business is no longer one of Fiberweb’s strategic core competencies after the sale of the hygiene wipes business to Ahlstrom, it is a key business for Barnhardt”, said Dave Rousse, president Fiberweb Americas. “We expect this business to continue under Barnhardt’s ownership
Barnhardt, a privately held company founded in 1900, is a leading supplier of bleached cotton fiber used in products ranging from feminine care, medical products, consumer products, wet wipes to specialty products, such as flame retardant and antimicrobial applications.
“We are excited about the opportunity to expand our bleached cotton business and also joining the two sites operation and market intelligence together to form a stronger company that is eager to meet the changing needs of the global cotton market,” said Barnhardt president Lewis Barnhardt.
