Plans are underway at Italian roll goods producer Texsus SpA to start up a new line during the second quarter of 2007 to produce biodegradable highloft acquisition/distribution layers. The three-meter-wide line will have an annual capacity of 4000 tons, bringing Texsus’ overall capacity to more than to 10,000 tons.
According to company executives, research and innovation are the keys of Texsus’ strategy. The company is focusing on different product technologies such as airthrough bonded and resin bonded, lamination and chemical composites.
New developments have brought about high volume foam bonded products with high absorption capacities and chemical resistance for household cleaning products. These materials are resistant to repeated washing, up to 90°. High volume foam bonded fabrics are available for disposable and/or re-usable applications, are easily printable or embossable and are also available in colored
versions. Flushable and biodegradable wipes are also being developed. Biodegradable ADL products have also been developed in response to increased customer interest for environmentally friendly, disposable products with reduced environmental impact.
