Silicone Emulsion

February 14, 2007

Wacker Group has developed a one-component silicone-based softener emulsion for finishing fiberfill. Advalon FF 220 achieves marked benefited in the finishing of fiberfill, enabling polyester fiber to be treated at significantly lower temperatures than previously possible. Moreover, the new softener permits shorter processing times and thus higher throughput. This will allow fiber producers to achieve considerable cost savings and productivity gains in the finishing processes.

Advalon FF220 imparts softness, volume and a pleasant feel to textile fibers and enhances resilience and elasticity of fiberfill. All of this is due to the outstanding lubricity effect of silicone. It forms a film or silicone on each individual fiber which reduces interfiber friction and thereby enhances the fiberfill’s natural elasticity.
