China Nonwovens Still Growing

January 18, 2007

In 2005, China’s total nonwovens production was 755,000 tons, a 23% increase, and this figure was expected to increase 11% to 838,000 for 2006. These production increases were attributed to higher growth rates in diapers, sanitary napkins, household wipes and packaging. Other applications including backing materials for coatings and automotive materials also show great potential for growth although the quantity of nonwovens used in these fields is not very high.
