Celanese Expands Chinese Presence

Celanese has begun construction on an emulsion polymers facility in Nanjing, China, its tenth such facility worldwide. The new plant will allow Celanese to meet demand for emulsion polymers in Asia for nonwovens, adhesive,s coatings and high tech glass fiber applications. The facility is scheduled to come onstream in summer 2007. Celanese is also building a 600,000 metric ton acetic acid facility and a 300,000 metric ton vinyl acetate monomer plant in Nanjing, which will become operational in early 2007 and 2008, respectively.
