Kimberly-Clark plans to cut 130 workers at its Lakeview diaper plant in Menasha, WI in June. The layoffs are part of a previously announced plan to close the facility by the end of 2007. Discussions are still underway to determine who will be let go, according to a recent news release from a WI-based news station.
In addition to June's job losses, the company is looking at two more waves of jobs cuts next summer and in the early fall of 2007.
The fact that the nonwovens industry is growing in China is not news. During the past decade, the market has achieved growth in the low double digits, well above the rates seen in more developed areas like the U.S. or Europe.
