Eastman Chemical Company will expand production of hydrogentated hydrocarbon resin by 25% at its Middelburg, The Netherlands facility. The planned completion date for the expansion is September 2006. "Throughout the world, demand for Eastman hydrocarbon resins has increased significantly," said Rene Smit, General Manager Adhesives & Polymers EMEA. “Regalite hydrogenated hydrocarbon resins produced in Eastman's Middelburg facility meet the growing need for high quality tackifier resins that are compatible with a wide range of adhesive polymers. This expansion builds further on the success of our Regalite products in the market."
Eastman has already said it would expand Eastotac and Regalite hydrocarbon resin production 30% in China.
The fact that the nonwovens industry is growing in China is not news. During the past decade, the market has achieved growth in the low double digits, well above the rates seen in more developed areas like the U.S. or Europe.
