Buckeye Posts 3Q Loss

Buckeye Technologies sales decreased 1% to $165.5 million during the first quarter ended September 30, 2005. The company also incurred a $0.3 million loss during the quarter due to a $1.3 million after tax in early extinguishment of debt costs and restructuring expenses associated wit the closure of its Gluekcstadt, Germany cotton linter pulp plant. Nonwovens sales were $57.3 million compared to $55.9 million during the same period of last year. Income decreased from $3.5 million to $2.5 million.
