Ahlstrom Corporation will invest in a new spunlace machine at its Green Bay, WI plant. The additional capacity will primarily serve the growing North American wipes market with spunlace composites technology. According to Ahlstrom, the new line will also have the production flexibility to meet demands in other key nonwovens markets including automotive, medical and technical nonwovens.
The planned investment follows Ahlstrom’s recent start-up of a spunlace composite line at its Windsor Locks, CT facility. In addition, Ahlstrom is reportedly assessing opportunities to further expand the sales and production of wipe products outside the US.
The investment will begin immediately with commercial output expected in January 2007.
