Freudenberg Expands Asian Tuft Business

June 16, 2005

Freudenberg, the world's leading nonwovens producer, will add to its polyester spunbond output in Ta-Yuan, Taiwan. A new line, scheduled to start up by late 2007, will produce 12,000 tons of PET spunbond to support growth of Freudenberg's Asian customers.

"We aim to increase our production capacity for tuft backing substrates as well as enhance our global supply flexibility to our customers as they continue to grow," said Bill Casey, general manager of Tuft Division, Freudenberg's spunbond polyester business. "Our total spunbond capacity in Asia should cover the demand for our unique PET spunbond products for the next eight to10 years."

The new line, the Ta-Yuan facility's second, is the latest in a string of Asian investment announced by Freudenberg. Last month, the company said it would buy a Chinese interlinings producer to boost its business in that segment.
