Two of the European Union's largest trash companies have purchased a minority stake in Knowaste BV, a diaper recycler. SITA and van Gansewinkel now own a combined 15% of the Netherlands-based company, a subsidiary of Toronto-based Knowaste LLC. Knowaste BV's recycling technologies are used to recycle absorbent hygiene products, including disposable baby diapers, incontinence products and disposable bedliners. The end product is sanitized reusable paper pulp and plastic components, the company said.
