R. Kerry Clark, who left Procter & Gamble Co. for Cardinal Health 17 months ago, has been named chairman and CEO of the company. Mr. Clark, 55, succeeds Robert Walter, the founder of the Columbus-area health care supplier, who is retiring. He will take over the job this month.

“The time is right for Mr. Clark to become chairman,” Mr. Walter said in a recent news release. “Our transition has gone extremely well and the company is thriving under his leadership.”

Mr. Clark had spent 32 years at Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble, rising to the post of vice chairman in charge of the family health care division. He moved to Cardinal in April 2006 as president and CEO.
