Brussels-based CIRFS Appoints President

Brussels-based CIRFS, the association representing the European man-made fibers industry, announced the appointment of Omer Sabanci as president. He succeeds Giancarlo Berti on the approval of the CIRFS general assembly. Mr. Sabanci is chairman of DuPont-SA, the largest European polyester producer, with production facilities in Germany, Turkey and the U.K. and corporate headquarters in The Nether­lands. He is the president of the Chemical Group of Sabanci Holding, of which he is also a Board of Executive Committee member. Sabanci Holding holds a 50% share of DuPontSA, and other man-made fiber subsidiaries and associate companies are active internationally in polyester industrial yarn and in polyamide industrial and textile yarns.
