Another part has been in expanding the provision of special services in addition to the usual engineering and equipment. These services include product prototyping and limited-to-medium volume production capability. This capability has proven to be key in helping customers reduce their time to market.
With the paradigm shift toward outsourcing, Joa’s ability to adapt has opened the door to a rapidly growing array of new household and consumer product opportunities, while at the same time, the core business of producing adult diaper, baby diaper and incontinent product lines enjoys a resurgence in the new economy.
In the past 18 months, Joa has also focused on and taken advantage of investing in many internal opportunities including continuing its migration to metric design for its standard components, expanding its commitment to 3D design in the Solid Edge platform, initiating Lean and Six Sigma programs and reinforcing design improvement and development by establishing a dedicated R & D Group who have the freedom to look for “needs based” solutions outside of the mainstream of Joa day-to-day activities.This only begins to tell the story of Joa’s commitment to the future. Joa is also very pleased with its recent success in delivery of upgrades and new equipment to Europe in close collaboration with their experienced staff located in Andernach, Germany. After a few years of patience and persistence, the contacts and support available for Joa customers in Europe through the Andernach office has become a recognized added value in those business relationships.
