Arkema Showcases Sustainable Solutions for Textiles and Nonwovens

06.21.22

Next generation, formaldehyde-free binders are presented

Arkema, a leader in specialty materials and an expert in waterborne binders and additives for textile and nonwovens, is featuring a wide range of products offering a balance of performance, processability and more sustainable technologies at Techtextil.

“Arkema is always looking for new ways to help our customers improve the sustainability and performance of their textile and nonwoven products” Patricia Beurdeley, global market manager for textile, nonwovens and leather, Arkema Coating Resins, says. “We look forward to meeting and discussing industry-wide initiatives, as well as showcasing new innovations, at this year’s Techtextil.”

The company will showcase a deep portfolio of ENCOR acrylic, thermoplastic, self-crosslinking and thermoset polymers, for use in printing and finishing processes for textile, consolidation and finishing for nonwovens and fiberglass.

Offerings include next-generation formaldehyde-free(1) binders such as:
  • ENCOR® 1230S acrylic copolymer, which imparts a medium-soft hand, excellent washing and dry cleaning resistance when used in textile coatings and the preparation of pigment printing pastes.
  • ENCOR® 1219 acrylic copolymer, which is well suited for foam applications in the textile and nonwoven industries. Because of its functionalization, ENCOR® 1219 copolymer shows a good compromise between self-crosslinking and thermoplastic properties, with a good adhesion on both natural and synthetic fibers.

The range of formaldehyde-free1 polymers can help product formulators meet sustainable requirements. Arkema can work with companies to help them meet specific industry needs concerning food contact and address specific requests, such as GOTS, OEKO-TEX and more. Alongside these products, Arkema also offers a full range of VISCODIS™ additives for textile and nonwovens.
