Recycling Session to Kick Off Hygienix

11.13.22

Presentations will look at feasible end of life solutions for absorbents

The first day of Hygienix will kick off with a session dedicated to recycling of absorbent waste. Presenting first will be Jeanine Cardin of RecycPHP, a company that has had a mission for over 15 years to give a second life to the industrial rejects in disposable absorbent products such as baby diapers, incontinence and feminine hygiene products. Knowing the actual volume and potential growth in the market for those products in the future, especially for baby diapers, there is a need and pressure from the population to find a more environmentally friendly end of life for those products other than sending them to landfills.

Cardin's company has started a project with l’École de technologie superieure of the University of Montreal in order to overcome difficulties facing used diapers recycling. A system that could potentially be used by parents would dry and sanitize diapers in order to stock and transport safe and lighter products.

The session will also feature a presentation from Rahul Bansal, assistant vice president of Birla Cellulose, titled  Reviewing Raw Materials, Technologies and Innovation and Innovation Options to Develop Feasible and Sustainable Product Designs.
