Morning Session Devoted to End-Of-Life Options for AHPS

Presentations will discuss composting, fibers, processing

 

Hygienix 2021 will kick off today with a session devoted to new options for a responsible end-of-life for AHPs. Susan Thoman, principal and managing director, Compost Manufacturing Alliance will present “A Compost Industry Perspecitve on Compostable Product Development.” Thoman will provide an overview of facility based/systems approach to third party certifying compostables with a particular emphasis on the non-food categories.
 

 

Consultant Olaf Isele, will present Opportunities and Challenges of a Trend Toward Natural Fibers in AHP. He will discuss how the use of natural fibers are meeting user and governmental expectations for a more natural and environmentally benign product. This talk will share examples, trends and fascinating ideas – and the challenges this trend is revealing.

 

Finally, Richard Knowlson, principal, RPK Consulting will present, “End of Life? Origin of Life? - Matching Process Technologies and Raw Material Options to the Shifting Sands of Legislative & Consumer Demands for Hygiene Products.” He will address some of the key options available to meet these differing challenges being created by a changing legislative and consumer landscape when it comes to single use products. He will emphasize matching raw material selection with process technologies.
