ES FiberVisions Showcases Fibers for Air and Liquid Filtration

Wide range of fibers discussed at booth

ES FiberVisions/FiberVisions are producers of bicomponent and polyolefin staple fibers. The companies showcased a range of fibers used in air and liquid filtration at Filtration 2018.

Improved filtration performance is obtained with a new finish chemistry--G8 Finish Chemistry from ES FiberVisions--that is designed to boost mechanical filtration by increasing impaction and interception. Potential benefits of using G8 include basis weight reduction or entering a higher value MERV or EN 779 category. The filtration efficiency of filter media based on fibers containing G8 technology has been tested according to ASHRAE 52.2.

Its bi-component fibers with eccentric core placement provide increased loft and void volume in the filter media. The benefits for high denier eccentric are a more open structure that results in increased dust holding capacity (DHC). For low denier eccentric, there is increased filration efficiency without hurting air resistance.

ES FiberVision's trilobal shaped PP fibers are monocomponent PP fibers with a trilobal x-section that can be used to introduce alternative fiber geometries in filter media. Fine denier trilobal PP fibers increase total surface area for higher particle capture. The increased void fraction also helps to minimize air resistance. Also, the high PP content helps improve electrostatic particle capture in a charged media.

Meanwhile, FiberVisions' Intercept bicomponent and polypropylene fiber solutions for high performance air filtration improve filtration efficiency, reduce pressure drop, improve dust holding capacity, improve filter media stiffness (self-support HVAC) and improve charge retention (electrostatic filters).
