Ahlstrom Corporation has agreed to sell its 66.6 millionshares in Suominen Corporation to AC Invest Two B.V., a company within the Ahlström Capital Group. Ahlstrom will sell its 26.9% stake in Suominen at a price of €0.50 per share, valuing the shareholding at €33.3 million. The transaction is expected to be completed within the next five days.
The transaction is completed in accordance with the option arrangement announced by Ahlstrom on January 10, 2014 related to the sale of the Paulinia plant in Brazil to Suominen. Ahlstrom acquired the stake in 2011 when it divested its spunlace businesses, including plants in the U.S., Spain and Italy, to Suominen. The Brazilian acquisition was delayed until 2013 due to bureacratic concerns.
