Wellman International Ltd., a subsidiary of Thailand-based Indorama Ventures PLC, recently announced a €5 million installation as the first phase of its proposed investment plans for new technologies over the next 3-4 years, supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
Wellman is one of Europe's largest producers of polyester staple fibers, made primarily from post-consumer recycled material for various end-uses. This year Wellman is marking 40 years of operations in Mullagh, Co Cavan, Ireland.
The company says the investment will facilitate the transformation of the operation from a commodity nonwoven provider to a hygiene and technically focused supply base aligned to the established markets for personal care.
