Following a 10-day test involving 14 families and seven brands, ConsumerResearch.org has released a comprehensive evaluation of disposable diapers including a ranking of top performers in five key categories. Among the study's finding was the revelation that the performance gap between name brand and store-brand diapers is closing; however, Huggies and Pampers are still considered the best disposable diapers available on the market.
The study found that Pampers Swaddlers were the most well-respected brand for newborns thanks to the "Grow With Me" fit, strethy sides and their soft overlapping tabs, which consumers said provide a snug, comfortable fit. At about 29 cents per diaper, this option is the most expensive ones but most consumers were not deterred by the premium.
The designation for most leak-proof diaper was given to Pampers Cruisers, which offered excellent protection, durable fasteners and flexible sides. The only downside was they are not available in sizes for smaller babies.
Other categories included cloth, which was given to Bum Genius One Size diapers; ecofriendly, which was earned by Earths Best TenderCare—described as softer than competing brands; overnight, given to Huggies Overnights, and training pants, awarded to Huggies Pull Ups.
