From its headquarters in Istanbul, Turkey, the company supplies worldwide markets ranging from Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East to North and South Africa.
Products manufactured by Polyfibers and its sister and parent subsidiaries include a range of polypropylene offerings, such as nonwoven needlepunched fabric, bulk staple fiber for the nonwovens industry, SMA asphalt reinforcement fibers, concrete micro reinforcement fibers andhigh tenacity FDY/CF yarn.In September 2008 Polyfibers launched a new production site for staple fiber and needlepunched nonwovens featuring Neumag Fehrer technology. In order to maintain its position as a leading geosynthetics manufacturer, the company entered a joint venture with an international investment group and was therefore able to increase the width of its products up to six meters. The decision to increase its width was the result ofcustomer demands both locally and in overseas markets.
Polyfibers offers nonwoven needlepunched geotextiles manufactured from 100% polypropylene staple fiber. The products target general reinforcement, separation, protectionand filtration applications where quality geotextiles are required. The company uses two types of surface processing technologies—traditional needlepunched as well as calendered and heat treated (burned) to provide durability, less surface roughness and higher reinforcement capabilities.
Polyfibers non-calendered and non-heat treated geotextiles are typically used in cases where a separation fabric is required between two technically different materials, especially where a good quality material is in contact with marginal soil, ballast or gravel and contamination needs to be avoided. Examples are behind gabion walls, precast elements and curtain walls where a separation fabric is required between the structural elements and the existing material is retained. These geotextiles are also usedas anchor walls between the drainage stone and granular structural backfill. In such situations, the filtration, water drainage and penetration rate capabilities must be higher and the surface must be rough to increase shear resistance.
Polyfibers’ calendered and smooth surface, thick geotextiles are ideal as protection fabrics in membrane liners or over materials that are prone to puncture or damage by fill or adjacent materials placed upon them. For this reason, they can also be used as reinforcement layers and geobag products as well as shoreline and erosion control fabrics. Polyfibers’ geotextiles offer adjustable technical properties, including blends of staple fibers in different lengths and sizes, varying needling speeds and surface densities and calendering and surface heat treatment options.
Polyfibers can also control and adjust tensile strength, elongation, permeability, water flow rate, punching resistance, dimensional stability, thickness and provide specialized solutions for geotechnical requirements.
At its in-house state-of-art, technical laboratories, the company employs commercial engineers and technician personnel. Polyfibers’ production facilities are vertically integrated from virgin polypropylene resin to ready-to-use end products. The company can also provide confidential private label manufacturing services to local and international buyers based on specified technical properties on an annual contract basis.
