In addition to rapidly aging populations around the world, health conditions that come with increased risks of incontinence like obesity, child birth and prostate surgeries, are helping the market for incontinence products grow. Global retail sales of adult incontinence products reached nearly $9 billion in 2018 and are projected to reach nearly $14 billion in 2023, according to Euromonitor International.

It’s Magic

Belgium-based hygiene manufacturer Drylock Technologies recently added its Magical Tubes technology to adult incontinence products. Magical Tubes allows for a better absorbing core efficiency, resulting in an overall thinner product, and an improved fit which brings the product closer to the body.

Dependable

Kimberly-Clark’s Depend brand continues to enhance its products for men and women. Last year, Depend launched four new sizes to its Fit-Flex Underwear for Women (S,M,L, XL) and three new sizes for men (S/M, L, XL) to provide an even better fit, with softer fabric for better comfort.

Complete Confidence

Developed with the help from more 700 hundred caregivers and nursing home residents, European hygiene company Essity launched the Tena Complete + Care line in the U.S. last year. Tena Complete + Care’s DuoLock Core Technology, a patent-pending two core technology, allows for even distribution of super absorbent polymer (SAP) and pulp for an even and thinner large core. The smaller core under big core design acts as a reservoir to wick away and lock in moisture; helping to keep skin drier and wearer more comfortable.

Diaper-Free Alternative

Technology company Triple W introduced DFree (meaning “diaper-free”)—the world’s first connected health wearable device for people who suffer from incontinence. DFree tracks the progression of bladder size using an ultrasound sensor, which can help seniors, children and disabled people who need to manage incontinence by predicting when their bladder is full and notifying them when it’s the right time to go to the bathroom.

Just Because

A group of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs recently launched an adult diaper company called Because. Developed with Stanford engineers and leading experts in protective underwear manufacturing, Because offers hypoallergenic and latex-free underwear made with next-generation materials for a more comfortable fit in Moderate, Maximum, and Overnight absorbencies for men and women. The company’s pads come in Light, Moderate, Maximum, and Overnight absorbency, and also carry boosters that can be inserted into underwear to increase protection.
