Iowa is poised to become the latest state to require schools to provide feminine hygiene products—including sanitary pads and tampons—to its students free of charge. A new bill introduced in the Iowa House is now referred to the House Education Committee. It would include schools covering grades six through 12.
Funding for the bill would start this July and continue through the end of June 2028 and would come from the state general fund to the board of education.
Already 20 U.S. states and the District of Columbia have leglislation in place requiring schools to provide feminine hygiene products to its students.
