Cradles to Crayons, a national nonprofit focused on ending clothing insecurity, and baby care manufacturer First Quality Baby Products, LLC. are celebrating three years of partnership. Since 2021, the organizations have worked together to address diaper need, providing more than 20 million diapers and 10 million baby wipes to families across the United States.
First Quality, the maker of Cuties diapers, donates a portion of all Cuties diaper sales to Cradles to Crayons – more than $2 million so far. Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive at home, at school, and at play. The organization provides clothing, shoes, diapers and other essentials free of charge by partnering with community-based organizations in Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, New York City and San Francsico.
"Clothing is a basic human right, and diapers are a child’s very first item of essential clothing. And yet, each year, one in two families across the U.S. experiences diaper need,” says Lynn Margherio, founder and CEO of Cradles to Crayons. “Diaper need not only affects babies and young kids, but also the adults who care for them. When a family doesn’t have diapers, they often cannot take their children to daycare and end up missing work. We are grateful for the incredible support that we have received from First Quality over the past three years to support our mission and help mitigate clothing and diaper insecurity for families across our country.”
To mark the ongoing partnership, Cradles to Crayons hosted a volunteer event last month for First Quality team members and their families at the Cradles to Crayons Giving Factory in Philadelphia. To date, more than 120 First Quality team members have volunteered at the location, spending over 300 hours sorting, cleaning, and repacking donated items, as well as helping to distribute thousands of diapers to partner organizations.
“Every time we volunteer at the Giving Factory, we see firsthand the level of care that goes into every step of the process,” says Sima Delafraz, chief commercial officer at First Quality. “This shared commitment to quality, and the belief that quality equals dignity, is at the heart of our partnership. The need for diapers across the United States remains urgent, and we are proud to continue to support Cradles to Crayons in its work to alleviate diaper need and end clothing insecurity for children.”
