August, the AAPI and woman-founded, gender-inclusive and sustainable period care brand, announced the launch of its premium and eco-friendly period care products in Target stores nationwide. The brand’s first entry into physical retail stores will include its line of period-positive tampons, liners, and pads in over 400 Target stores across the U.S.
"We are thrilled to see our gender-inclusive and sustainable period care products on Target shelves across the country,” says co-founder Nadya Okamoto. “It's a significant milestone for our brand and a reflection of the growing demand for more inclusive and environmentally conscious options. We believe everyone who menstruates, regardless of gender, race and socio-economic status, deserves access to safe and effective period care, and we're excited to continue pushing the industry towards a more equitable and ethical future."
First launched direct-to-consumer in June 2021, the roll out serves as a major milestone for August as the brand strives to make dignified period care options accessible and available to all. Unlike any other product on the market, August’s packaging will state “for everyone who menstruates,” further driving its mission for gender-inclusivity. The Target launch line will include August’s:
All August tampons, pads, and liners are sustainably made with 100% organic cotton materials, are hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and free of harmful chemicals. Prioritizing transparency, August openly shares information about its supply chain on the website and discusses its practices with its community through its traceability page and FAQ page. In addition to being a certified 1% for the Planet company, August is also a Climate Neutral Certified company — the only tampon brand to have the certification.

- Pads ($8.99): The high-performance and ultra-soft pads use two-way venting holes for a drier and more breathable feel and are packaged in BPI-certified compostable wrappers. While other pads just absorb liquid, August pads absorb and lock in any liquid – so users can keep moving around without worrying about any leaks. A 16-pack of pads will be available in Day Pad (245mm in length, holds 60ml of fluid) or Night Pad (285mm in length, holds 80ml of fluid) offerings. Combo Packs will also be available with eight of each included.
- Liners ($7.49): The 16-pack of organic, breathable cotton liners are perfect for spotting, breakthrough bleeds, or paired with an August tampon for added protection. Designed to help users stay dry and especially made for sensitive skin, the liners are 155mm in length and holds 5ml of fluid.
- Tampons ($9.99): August's 100% organic cotton tampons are fitted into BPA-free plastic applicators that open axially to comfortably fit the true shape of the vagina. Absorbent enough to prevent leaking, 16-pack of tampons will be available in Regular (holds 6-9ml of fluid) and Super (holds 9-12ml of fluid).
