PFNonwovens has completed work on a $75 million expansion, including a new nonwovens production line, at its North American headquarters in Hazleton, PA.
“We’re excited to launch our Line 9,” says CEO Cedric Ballay at a grand opening event. “This line is key to our continued growth trajectory and will continue writing our great success story here in Hazleton and around the world. We wanted to share with the people who make it possible for us and celebrate a bit.”
The new line occupies half the expansion, or about 75,000 square feet, with another 75,000 square feet of space ready for growth.“
This line really embodies what we at PFN and our supplier partners really strive for every day, which is state-of-the-art technology and manufacturing excellence with best-in-class quality,” Ballay said.
The Hazleton facility, which is considered a mega-facility at a total of 800,000 square feet, employs 370 people on four shifts, operating 24/7 to supply an expanding, global market.
“These fabrics continue to improve people’s life on a daily basis, and help bring a more sustainable world,” Ballay says.
PFNonwovens announced the expansion to its Hazleton site in late 2020. The new line, which is the first of a two-line investment, will allow the company to make revolutionay, cottony-soft hygiene products for the North American market. It is based on Reicofil 5 technology. Additionally, the new line features bicomponent capability to produce biosourced and other specialty products and allow the company to expand its production of medical fabrics in Hazleton.
PFNonwovens is also underway with a facility expansion in Cape Town, South Africa where it is investing $40 million in a new line scheduled to be complete later this year.
