Empack Spraytech Inc. will invest in a disinfectant wipes production facility in Barrie, Ontario with more than $1.2 million of support provided by the Ontario Together Fund. The total investment of the project is estimated at $10 million and includes modifications of existing equipment as well the the installation of a fully automated production line.
Empack is expanding capacity of its Zytec Germ Buster brand through the addition of a 100,000 square foot facility, of which 25,000 square feet will be dedicated to the production of more than four million wipes per day. This output will meet growing demand for disinfectant wipes, which has been boosted by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Empack will manufacture a range of Health Canada-approved disinfectant wipes using various active ingredients including citric acid, benzalkonium chloride and combinations of quaternary ammonium compounds, all of which have been tested to prove efficacy against COVID-19. It will also develop new products using hydrogen peroxide at the new facility to expand the markets served.
