Global hygiene and health products company Essity, the maker of Tena incontinence and skin care products, announced that Tena Intimates are now 100% breathable, designed with skin health in mind. The upgrades to the Tena Intimates product portfolio will help keep skin comfortable and dry while using incontinence products. The Tena Intimates upgraded look and feel offers the same protection Tena is known for to help prevent against leaks, odor and wetness.
Seventy-seven percent of female incontinence product users experience skin discomfort of some kind. With skin health at the core of its new design, Tena Intimates combine 100% breathability with Tena's Triple Protection and ProSkin Technology, which includes a soft top layer and exclusive three-dimensional technology that quickly wicks fluid away. One of the best ways to help prevent skin damage due to incontinence is to keep the skin dry. Tena's patented ProSkin Technology minimizes the potential for skin to get overhydrated, which breaks down skin's natural layer of protection.
That's why Tena Intimates are designed with new breathable technology that lets humidity out, helping to protect sensitive, intimate skin. Tena's innovative design utilizes a fast-acting, highly absorbent core, that wicks moisture away from the skin surface to enable better comfort and functionality for the wearer. This absorbent core is surrounded by a unique outer layer with micro-pores that allow excessive moisture to evaporate, keeping the skin comfortable and dry, helping the skin to breathe.
Urinary incontinence, or bladder leakage, is widely prevalent in the U.S., with one in three women in North America suffering from the condition every day. Women often experience a form of incontinence for the first time after giving birth, as the weight of an expanding uterus can weaken the pelvic floor muscles causing urine to leak. Despite the common nature of this condition, women wait between six to eight years on average before talking to their doctor or considering a continence care brand, and some wear feminine care products instead, which, being less absorbent, do not adequately address the comfort and skincare needs associated with incontinence.
"Essity's Tena brand has been at the forefront of continence care for more than 50 years and continues to evolve to keep up with consumer expectations and the latest technology innovations," says Carrie Harcus, senior director Marketing & Sales Consumer. "We're thrilled to launch the upgraded Tena Intimates line during World Continence Awareness Week. We always strive to offer a wider choice and more individualized options for different continence care situations that further improve the confidence and comfort of the wearer. Creating 100% breathable products that help to protect intimate skin is just one way that we innovate so we can support all different types of lifestyles and needs."
