Welspun India Ltd., manufacturer of the Comfina brand of spunlaced nonwovens, will introduce a 100% biodegradable version at the Hygienix Conference in Orlando, November 5-8. The Comfina brand, patent pending, is designed to provide a competitive alternative to cotton based spunlace products and advertises advantages in price, tensile strength, and manufacturing flexibility. Formally launched during Hygienix17, Comfina serves the hygiene segment, including baby and feminine care.
"Due to its extraordinary attributes it has been highly appreciated by brands and end consumers," according to Pranay Sahu, head of sales & marketing for Welspun's spunlace business. "Although it's not a 100% cotton nonwoven, Comfina still offers a 100% natural touch/cotton touch to consumers, and has superior tensile strength and a 20-25% higher bulk,” he adds. "Comfina's 3D embossed version gives a dry feel to consumers, which is a valued attribute considering the 100% cotton touch feel. However, Comfina in its first version was made with 20-25% non-biodegradable fibers. Therefore, Welspun's R&D has developed an advanced, sustainable version of Comfina that offers 100% natural/cotton touch to the consumer that is 100% biodegradable."
More details about the new biodegradable Comfina will be provided at Hygienix.
