Playtex Sport, in partnership with World Champion gymnast Aly Raisman, unveiled their first Playtex Sport Vending Machine installment at Chelsea Piers in New York City last Thursday. The interactive vending machine marks the next stage of the brand's efforts to provide girls with the tools and advice they need to pursue athletics and play on through their periods.
The machines are powered by users sharing their favorite sports advice with the hashtag #PlayOn – encouraging young women across the country to share the encouragement that shaped them. To celebrate women's athletics, the vending machines will also be live during select women's basketball games at the University of Connecticut and University of Texas.
Playtex Sport and Aly Raisman first kicked off their partnership in April 2017 to launch the Playtex Sport Compact, the most compact tampon on the market, based on length before extension vs. leading brands. Now, Playtex Sport and Aly are sharing Aly's own words of wisdom on product boxes found in the Playtex Sport Vending Machines.
"My support system has been so important to my success throughout my career, both in and out of the gym," Raisman says. "The advice I've received throughout my journey has helped shape me into the woman I am today and, just as I continue to receive advice from others, I would like to pass on what I've learned to the next generation. I'm excited to share my sports advice in partnership with Playtex Sport and hear what other girls have to share."
The Playtex Sport Vending Machines will dispense an 18-count Playtex Sport Compact box when the user shares sports advice with the hashtag #PlayOn on Instagram. From high-school swimmers to varsity volleyball players, the brand aims to establish an online movement to champion female athletes with inspiring sports advice while equipping them with a comfortable tampon and 360° Sport Level Protection.
Playtex Sport Vending Machine will be available at three locations across the country:
"Aly is an inspiration to many young athletes and Playtex Sport is proud to continue working with her," says Tom Blute, senior brand manager Playtex Sport. "The Playtex Sport Compact was designed to keep young athletes comfortable and protected no matter where their day takes them."
